Evan's Chef de Cuisine, Jimi Lasquete
 
Jimi is a much welcomed returnee to Evan's, having worked here for eight years between 1993 and 2001.  Starting as a pantry cook, Jimi worked his way up to Sous Chef.   Subsequently he left to pursue  opportunities elsewhere, including brief stints at Aqua and Chez Panisse  in the Bay Area.  He came back to us in May 2007 and his maturation process has been completed; his accomplished techniques and creative flair are clearly evident now in our cuisine. 

Jimi was born the son of a chef in Kauai, Hawaii, and grew up cooking with his dad, beginning his work in commercial kitchens at the age of sixteen. Jimi gained his French-Classical  training here years ago and studied under several of our previous very proficient Chefs.  His Asian flair is just natural, a gift of his ancestry, and it lends itself to a perfect blend of Pan-Asian and Classical flavors.  Jimi loves to create new presentations for his own style.  He combines the most desirable elements of a Chef, passion and creativity, an eye for stunning visual presentations and a gift for seasoning and balancing intensely flavored components.  Although he really lives food,  he likes to find a little time  to indulge in his favorite hobbies, golf and fishing.

Jimi's star is on the rise here at Evan's, and we're all so pleased to be able to watch it shine.

 About the Owners of Evan's:  Evan and Candice Williams

We have lived in "America's All Year Playground", beautiful South Lake Tahoe, California for 35 years.  We enjoy skiing, sailing and golf, cooking, reading and sampling wines. 

We love our jobs most of the time, and our two restaurants keep us very busy. We also love to travel and always try to include golf on the itinerary, and hopefully wine tasting, too! 

Our Yellow Labradors, Gracie,Pearl and Gracie and her daughter, Pearl, are the most spoiled dogs we know. They enjoy their back yard which has a lovely lawn going down to the dock and  lagoon, which they think is their personal swimming pool. 

We have a combined total of 70 years of restaurant experience, and although we have no "formal" culinary education, we have been active in the "earn while you learn" program for decades. 

We have owned Evan's for twenty four years and The Cantina for fifteen, and are blessed with great staff in both restaurants who care deeply about the quality of both the product and the overall customer experience.  We encourage them to take pride in the operation as if it was theirs.  Sometimes they think it is!
